What do you mean by the “life sciences industry”?
Our definition of the life sciences industry is broad. It includes pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical technology, and medical device companies as well as contract research organizations, healthcare service companies, and patient support programs.

What types of life science roles are eligible for this award?
The award recognizes nominees who are in a high-level position within the life sciences, such as a Director, Vice President, or C-suite position. We recognize that some companies may not use the titles of ‘Director’ or ‘Vice President’ for roles that are equivalent to these positions. If you’re not sure if a potential nominee’s position qualifies, please contact us for clarification.

While the nominee must be in a high-level role, they can work within any division or department, including market access, product development, sales, preclinical or clinical research, marketing, medical affairs, and other areas not listed here.

I’m working abroad in the life sciences industry. Am I eligible for the award?
Yes! As long as you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada, you’re eligible, even if you’re currently working abroad.

How do I nominate someone?
Nominations for this award are now closed. Thank you to everyone who submitted applications to the Canadian Life Sciences Top 20 Under 20 Awards. Winners will be announced in the Spring.

Fill out the nomination form. Include your name and contact information and the name and contact information of the nominee. A representative of the Canadian Life Sciences Top 20 Under 40 Awards will then reach out to the nominee. They will ask them to submit an application, with information about their career highlights and achievements. The selection committee may contact you or other references for supporting information. 

What is the selection committee looking for in nominees?
Award winners will meet some, or all, of the following criteria:

  • They demonstrate inspiring leadership qualities.
  • They foster innovation. 
  • They successfully deliver on key goals.
  • They support their wider communities, through local, regional, or national initiatives.
  • They advocate for patients, health care providers, and/or the life sciences industry.
  • They encourage the growth and development of others in the workplace.
 

What happens if I’m nominated for the award?
A representative of the Canadian Life Sciences Top 20 Under 40 Awards will reach out to you to let you know you’ve been nominated. They will ask you to provide information about your role and achievements, as well as references. 

When is the deadline to make a submission?
The deadline to submit a nominee for this year’s awards is January 15 2025.

Nominations for this award are now closed. Thank you to everyone who submitted applications to the Canadian Life Sciences Top 20 Under 20 Awards. Winners will be announced in the Spring.

When will nominees find out if they’ve won?
We will notify the award winners (and those who nominated them) in late February. The award winners will be publicly announced in the Spring.

How will awardees be recognized?
The photos and bios of the 20 awardees will be posted on this website and featured in a special printed supplement. This Canadian Life Sciences Top 20 Under 40 supplement will be sent out to awardees, nominators, and life sciences organizaitons and companies across the country.
